Amidst the close-to-collapse megacity New Delhi, India, the deer park is a green oasis that sets the stage for various activities: Since more than 40 years a group of elderly people gathers every morning before sunrise to practice Yoga, stretch their bodies and cite their poetry. Nearby lives a flock of deer, looking out from behind their fences, they observe the humans and their puzzling busyness. Further on, ruins from the mogul times attract flirty youngsters and provide a hiding place for shy kisses. During the night, the muted sound of electronic music seeps through the greenery, originating from the nearby nightlife district.
DEER PARK blends phantasm and reality and is a poetic essay on impermanence, the gaze of nature, and the essence of language.
